Wisdom Love 2009

I just had the best week of my life! I totally loved it! This entry is like a few weeks late but whatever, better late than never. I want to write this week down before I forget.
This year, Wisdom was extremely fun. I had an amazing time. I even make some great friends and it just recharged my motive on wanting to go to Wisdom.

This year, I was the TA of the potsticker group. We wore the red wisdom shirts and they stood out so brightly, it was really hard to miss the great potsticker team when we walked by. The kids in the group were around 3rd to 4th grade, eight to nine years old if I remember correctly. I was assigned to the group along with four other TAs: Alvin, senior; Jay, junior; Patrick, sophmore; and Tiffany, freshman.
Alvin, Patrick, and Tiffany all went to Mission San Jose, the “smart Asian” school as I call it. Jay was the only one who went to Irvington High School, but I don’t think he was the only one of ALL of the TAs. And of course, I was the only Foothill Falcon, probably out of all the TAs of the Fremont Culture Camp. Some of the TAs were surprised to hear that I was from Pleasanton, I don’t really get why, but that’s their opinion.
Well of course, the first day of wisdom was hell. But actually this year’s kids weren’t as bad as last. Since… they know how to line up into two lines. But they always had trouble getting into the six lines when sitting in the box. The main problem was some kids were good, some wanted to sit next to their friends, and some just didn’t like sitting with the group. But overall the potsticker kids were good campers.
One of my favorite kids this year was totally opposite from the kid I loved last year. Her name was Hannah, a half Taiwanese-half Korean girl. (very cool) She was very outgoing and loud, having the typical proud Korean personality, but not as bad as Yujin (thank goodness).
I really loved listening to her talk, it was just so funny, there were only few problems she had though.
1. There was this girl name Melody that she really hated in the group, so she would often rant about how annoying Melody was
2. Hannah had major allergies, they seemed really bad and her eyes would often hurt a lot, so I often had to sit by her and make sure she was doing ok.
But one of my favorite things about Hannah was her gossip predictions, they were so fun to listen too, I often found myself asking her to update me. It was extremely entertaining to listen to the kids form rumors about the TAs.
Most of the rumors were love pairings and I found they extremely fun to listen to and some of them changed throughout the course of the week.
First Guess: AlvinxTammy, JayxTiffanyxPatrick (Pat and Jay were fighting for Tiffany)
Second Guess: AlvinxTammyxPatrick, JayxTiffany
Third Guess: Alvin, TammyxPatrick, JayxTiffany (The kids learned that Alvin had a real girlfriend)
It was fun to listen to these all week, but this is all I heard from Hannah, I think Gloria had some predictions she told Ronald and Katie, but is not telling me. Hmm I wish I could hear them. They would’ve been fun to listen to. (Though it did take a while for me to tell them that I didn't like the TA guys...)
Well as the week continued on, I spend time with the kids, and I think I reached as one of the most favorite TAs. Many of the kids enjoyed playing with me, I didn’t even know half the names of those that wanted to hang out with me. (Kinda sad…)
Adding on to that… I think I was the only TA who actually tried to memorize all the names of the kids, but… like last year, I failed. (It’s hard!)
The days passed with the signing in, classes, tag, dance practice, and TA meetings.
The TAs started to learn the TA dance to perform on Friday. At first, it was extremely embarrassing to do, but on the last day, the embarrassing dance became fun, extremely fun. The last dance for the performance was a completely success, but my mom didn’t get a recording. Good thing Tiffany found it and tagged me in it on facebook. (haha) The performance day wasn’t as stressful as last year, which was a very good thing.
After all the kids left and the TAs cleaning up (as Tiffany and I danced the TA dance as we cleaned). Many of the kids wanted to get pictures with their favorite TAs. I had quite a few… well probably 2… one with Hannah and one with all the other girls that liked me. And I finally got the TA picture I wanted! (Thank you mom!)
Well the TAs finished cleaning the MP and the potsticker TAs skipped towards the classroom to clean up, arms linked. It was so fun actually, we were all high and we didn’t care what others thought. We were happy but also sad that the week was over, screaming “WE SURVIVED THE WEEK!” as we skipped.
One last time… the potsticker TAs looked at the classroom and (as we were high) we did a few crazy things then. The guys started to feel relieved that they didn’t have to be “good role models” and let their boxers show. (haha) Tiffany and I laughed at some of the boxer designs (ducky boxers XD) and went towards the lunch tables for the last TA meeting of the week.
The TA supervisor, Lily LaoShi (teacher), also noticed the close friendship that had formed between the potsticker TAs within one week. As she handed us our final wisdom letter (or as I call it, the graduation envelope) she asked us if we knew each other before. But we were all strangers that met through the camp and with a week, the bond grew. I was happy to know that I have formed friendships with new people and especially wanted to keep in contact. FACEBOOK! >D haha…
Next was the TA party. It was so fun, free food (left over lunch) and someone bought ice tea for everyone. It was fun to hang out with my fellow TAs and talked to some of the teachers (few that still remembered me). There was cake, ice tea, apple pie, curly fries, and burgers included in the food. There we got the picture of all the Fremont Culture Camp TAs. We, the potsticker TAs, had to stand in the row at the very top with our drinks.
After a few more minutes of telling everyone to go on facebook and keep in contact, I had to leave early. I was totally high or sugar high, it really was a great week. I am really going to miss wisdom and my new wisdom friends as well. I love Wisdom! >3
